During this 8 week course, students will take on 4 projects learning basic and intermediate sewing techniques. We will take a skill-building approach to sewing such as using and modifying patterns, understanding proper fabric selections, and how to hand and machine sew. This class is for all skill levels; instructors will assess each student's ability and experience to determine appropriate projects for that student moving forward.

-Identifying different types of fabrics and their characteristics (cotton, polyester, denim, etc.)
-Basic operations of Brother Home Machines
-Beginner machine stitches (running stitch, backstitch, etc.)
-Beginner pattern alterations (lengthening, shortening, adjusting fit)
-Introduction to reading sewing patterns
-Setting an invisible zipper

Fundamental Techniques
-Overview of both machine and hand sewing techniques
-Introduction to essential sewing tools and materials
-How to thread a bobbin
-Identifying seam allowances, seams, alterations and hemming
-How to choose appropriate fabric for different projects
-Introduction to the sewing machine (parts and functions)
-Proper use and handling of sewing tools and equipment
-Safe practices when using sewing machines

The Stitch & Sew Studio Summer Program is $50 a week including lunch ($400 +Tax for 8 Week Program)! Sessions are 4 Hours each and will be held Monday through Thursday. A 50% Deposit is required to secure your seat in a session. All payments must be paid in full by the first day of classes.
